Gold Key Auto is a car dealership in Waycross, Georgia. For years, they operated from the domain name GoldKeyAuto.net but they have some big news to share: they acquired the matching .com, finally!
In a fun press release, the company shares the “outrageous” news of paying $2,500 dollars to get the domain GoldKeyAuto.com via GoDaddy, although most domain names are priced at $10 dollars.
Of course, there is a distinction between the two prices: one is a domain already registered, the other is a domain that is not registered.
Gold Key Auto notes:
“We jumped at the chance to own Gold Key Auto’s .com domain name,” Johnson said. “It was worth it to us to pay $2,500. I always cringed at the thought of someone looking for and not finding us—therefore not getting the first-class treatment that they get here—all because they didn’t know our website address.”
Registered in 1996, the domain name GoldKeyAuto.com was listed for $3,045 dollars on Sedo. It appears to have been sold via Afternic.
GoldKeyAuto.net was registered in 2006, ten years after the much coveted .com was registered. Congratulations to Gold Key Auto for the premium domain rebranding via the acquisition of GoldKeyAuto.com!
