Royal rebranding: Sussex.com domain seller had no idea who was acquiring it!

Mr. Neil Agate, seller of the domain Sussex.com to the Duke & Duchess of Sussex, was not aware of the royal identity of its buyer.

The lucky entrepreneur and British expat held onto the domain since its registration way back in 1995, using it for his business, Sussex Systems Inc.

In December, the former owner of Sussex.com was approached by a third party broker who relayed his asking price to the unknown buyer.

The price was “fair,” according to an interview given by Mr. Neil Agate to The Daily Mail and the deal closed in December of 2023.

A very happy seller, it seems, as witnessed by a public post on his Facebook profile:

  1. The ex-royals understand branding and it’s a one word .com. Great deal and congratulations to both parties.
