Givelify incorporates #domain Give.com in its trademark application

Trending: Companies operating generic domains file for trademark registration at the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO.)

Following the green light by SCOTUS on the Booking.com case, numerous such applications have been filed, and we keep track of these attempts to expand on the trademark pool.

This one is different, however.

The registrants of the domain Givelify.com are looking to trademark GIVELIFY GIVE.COM as their mark.

The application is for the following services:

Downloadable computer software for mobile and portable electronic devices to enable a user send or donate money to a recipient; Downloadable computer application software for mobile or portable electronic devices, namely, software for enabling a user to send or donate money to a recipient

and

Charitable fund raising; Charitable fundraising services; Charitable fundraising services by means of collecting and redeeming recyclables for donation of redemption proceeds to charitable organizations; Accepting and administering monetary charitable contributions; Philanthropy consultation relating to charitable fundraising

What makes this application interesting, is the incorporation of “GIVE.COM” into the trademark. Givelify, however, does not own the matching domain Give.com, which is currently offered for sale:

Give.com

Incorporating an unrelated domain into a trademark can be very confusing. There’s a chance that the trademark application was made in error by including “GIVE.COM” next to GIVELIFY.
