Animal names make strong brand identities as they’re memorable, visual, and emotionally resonant. Whether symbolizing speed, power, loyalty, or playfulness, animals offer brands an instant personality that is recognizable.
Plenty of companies use this to great effect. Jaguar suggests speed and luxury, Puma brings agility to sportswear, and Firefox adds a clever twist to tech. Even names like Mailchimp and Red Bull tap into the quirky or bold nature of their chosen creatures.
But all this comes at a price. We came across two animal names that are available for sale or lease: Aardvark.com and Rabbits.com.
If you take the lease route, that’s $9,800 dollars a month each. If you want to buy them outright, that’s a whopping $4.6 million dollars a piece.
Aardvark.com was registered in 1994 while Rabbits.com was born in 1998. They are both in the possession of Next Navigation Pty Ltd, an Australia-based domain name investment and trading company.
No animal named domains appear in the top‑100 most expensive domains ever, an indication that perhaps these two domains are overpriced.
But they are so cute!
