William Shatner is writing history today as the oldest person to travel to the edge of space.
Mostly known for his role as captain James Tiberius Kirk in the popular series Star Trek, the Canadian actor is a full 90 years old!
Fans of the Star Trek series are familiar with one of captain Kirk’s phrases: Beam me up, Scotty!
That’s in reference to the transportation technology of “beaming” people from point A to point B, with engineer Scotty handling the switchboard. It’s one of several phrases that have acquired “cult status” from Star Trek.
And now for the best part: the matching domain BeamMeUpScotty.com is owned by CBS Studios. Registered in 1998 by Paramount, the domain is managed by corporate registrar MarkMonitor.
Congratulations to the crew and William Shatner, for boldly going where no 90 year old has gone before! 😀
