Chinese domain market report : Red Windows is coming

Microsoft wants to “invade” the Chinese government, creating a custom version of its Windows 10 that passes China’s security controls.

What that means, basically, is that China will have access to the source code of “Red Windows” software, in order to inspect its functions – potentially adding special privileged access points.

In doing so, Microsoft will have a strong advantage against other global OS makers, as China expands its technological demands.

Meanwhile, the Chinese domain market looks peachy.

We started reporting on it more often, due to an increase in the volume of transactions. While prices for the domain genres we report on remain rather flat, there are hopes for a rejuvenation of the glory days of 2014-2015.

Our focus is on short domains, between 1 to 4 characters in length, for the .CN, .COM and .NET TLDs.
