The domain name Cyrano.com is a first name .com and thus extremely valuable.
Cyrano is associated with Cyrano de Bergerac, the big-nosed French novelist, playwright, epistolarian, and duelist who lived in the 17th century; his life was turned into a 19th century play and, eventually, a movie.
As a domain, Cyrano.com was registered in 1995 and by 1996 it was the name of a software company. A capture from 1996 via Archive.org tells the following story:
CYRANO was formed in October, 1996 following the merger of IMM and Performance Software. Both companies shared a common goal and vision, to assist organizations to deploy high quality client/server applications by using Automated Testing Tools. The Performance Software approach was a server based solution, capturing “live” client/server transactions and replicating them to simulate realistic workloads. The IMM approach was a client/server based solution, detecting and resolving performance bottlenecks before deployment. The synergy between the products was obvious, combining the most advanced defect identification tools with a repeatable, reliable simulation engine.
In 2002, Quotium Technologies SA acquired Cyrano and its assets following a court ruling issued by the Paris Commerce Court, which had ordered the liquidation of Cyrano in October of 2001.
By 2007, Vedant Incorporated acquired Quotium. Here’s what we could find about them:
“Vedant Incorporated, founded in 1986, is a privately held U.S.-based corporation headquartered in Newburyport, MA. Vedant provides healthcare-provider clients the industry’s most comprehensive quality governance solutions, allowing for the highest-confidence management of today’s heterogeneous clinical healthcare system environments, and assuring delivery of the most effective and safest possible patient care.”
Vedant Incorporated, the company behind the domain name VedantHealth.com, appears to have ceased operations. The company, known for its healthcare quality assurance solutions, such as the TestStream automated testing platform, was active in promoting its services until at least 2023.
Meanwhile, the domain name VedantHealth.com dropped in 2023 and it’s now parked with a fresh registration date. Unfortunately, it appears that Cyrano.com had been associated with an email address under the VedantHealth.com domain name.
Whoever managed that domain at Google’s Registrar must have missed the transition to SquareSpace, thus losing control on the renewals of Cyrano.com; this is how a great domain expires and drops.
