Traffic to domains parked with Dan.com and its domain landers was blocked out for several days, causing a “spinning wheel” inside browsers, unresponsive web pages, or errors.
First reported by a NamePros member last Saturday, the issue caused visits to any domain parked with Dan.com to become erratic: Almost 1 in 2 visits ended up in an error. The issue did not exist on internal portfolio landing pages at Dan.
Initially, the issue was handled through customer tickets with technicians being unable to replicate the problem; at least, that was the type of level 1 support that was rendered. Once others chimed in at NamePros it became evident that the issue was not a mass hallucination!
NamePros members provided details and technical suggestions even; within 24 hours of acknowledging the issue, Dan support confirmed that it was resolved. Most likely, one of the Dan.com servers handling the SSL requests was set up with rather strict rules on its firewall, which began blocking regular traffic to domains.
It’s great seeing the domain community chipping in and it’s also great seeing Dan.com working towards the resolution of this issue in an effective manner.
