Aegean Airlines S.A. is the flag carrier airline of Greece and the largest Greek airline by total number of passengers carried, by number of destinations served, and by fleet size.
The company operates from the domain AegeanAir.com; during my recent trip to Greece the stewardesses handed us Aegean-branded refreshing hand wipes. They smell fresh and contain a mild disinfectant:
As these are meant to be used on the plane, the Aegean Airlines (“Aegean”) logo and brand colors are prominent, along with the words “Refreshing Hand Wipe” (Αρωματικό Μαντήλι in Greek.)
The web site is thus missing, but surprise!
Flipping the packet reveals another domain name, Violette.gr, thus scoring an instant “domain sighting,”
Founded in 1980, Violette Ltd offers a great variety of single use refreshing wet tissues. “They are gentle to the skin because of their neutral pH , they are compliant to current regulations & they are paraben-free,” according to their web site.
What’s a “domain sighting,” you may ask.
It’s when we encounter domain names in the real world, that appear on vehicle wraps and signs, billboards and business signs, and product packaging. For convenience, we group them into .com domain sightings, and other ccTLDs, gTLDs and TLDs.
