A new gTLD about art, dot .ART, became available today to trademark holders.
Art and cultural entities with ICANN-registered trademarks can register dot .ART domains until February 2017.
According to the official schedule, arts-related not-for-profits, museums, institutions, galleries, artists and established members of the art world can register domains from February 2017 until May.
Anyone with an interest in the arts can register .ART domains from May 2017 onward.
Currently, early adopters are revealing their use of .ART domains, with more than 60 world-renowned museums and arts organizations being part of the roll-out.
Such early adopters of .ART include the Art Institute of Chicago, Centre Pompidou, Fondation Beyeler, Fondation Cartier, Guggenheim Museum, Hauser & Wirth, ICA Miami, LACMA, MAXXI, Tate and Walker Art Center, among others.
These organizations plan to activate their new domains, some of which include fully migrating or consolidating their existing .com websites to .ART; others are launching new, dedicated .ART websites showcasing unique content.
