History was made today for the amount one gets to receive for a single click, on an ad displayed on a parked domain.
While the largest single click record is still $22,850.15 at Sedo, this new *lowest* record sent Latvia to the #1 spot of sub-penny clicks, and into PPC fame.
“The click was categorized as above zero but below one penny,” said Chuck Shilling of Shilling-Click, a PPC affiliate that uses Google feeds to monetize about 35,000 domain names.
“When we got the detailed reports, the exact earnings for that click was 25/1000 of a cent.”
In other words, it would take 40 such clicks to make one penny, and a whopping 4,000 clicks to earn a dollar.
Chuck Shilling was not disappointed, however:
“We are aware of the low value, let alone, conversion rate of clicks from countries in obscure parts of Europe. I mean, how many people can really point to Latvia on the map? Even Google Maps gets lost, at times!” joked Shilling.
The domain investor plans to frame his 25/1000 of a penny notification and keep it as a souvenir, indicative of the bad economy that the domain industry has been facing.
Nearly all of my domains are ccTLD .lv domains. Frustrating for me to get this sort of money for clicks on names like smartphone.lv
