Bodog.com has been seized by the Department of Homeland Security – according to Bodog founder, Calvin Ayre.
“We have learned that Bodog.com, the original domain of the world’s most popular gaming brand Bodog, was seized by the Department of Homeland Security pursuant to a sealed warrant.”
Bodog already moved its poker web site to Bodog.eu last May, but its domain, Bodog.com, remained active – until today.
Bodog.eu does not allow US based visitors to participate due to laws restricting online gambling in the US.
Calvin Ayre continues:
Copyright © 2024 DomainGang.com · All Rights Reserved.“This seizure of Bodog.com is a bit odd as the domain name hasn’t been operational for quite some time and isn’t in use for any active commerce anywhere in the world. Other Bodog Brand properties won’t be affected by the seizure of this inactive domain. The seizure could be some sort of revenge action against the Bodog Brand as a punishment for its past licensing of the domain name to a company with US facing business.”
How timely. I just wrote a post last week on the fact that Absolute Poker is still withholding money from US players due to last years seizure. The feds must have read my blog and got their pantaloons all in a bunch again. My bad, Calvin
Hey Mike – That’s unfortunate, the solution is obviously to only play poker when outside of the US 😀
I originally came up with Bodis.com name because I used to frequent the Bodog.com website. 🙂
