A wireless emergency test was sent out at 2:18pm Eastern time today, by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA.)
The agency sent out its first “presidential alert,” pinging about 225 million electronic devices.
The message read as follows:
“THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”
We received it too. Thanks, Donald! 😀
Meanwhile, the matching .com domain, PresidentialAlert.com, was registered just a month ago. Other TLDs have been registered as well.
The domain PresidentialAlert.com is set up to forward to AmericanSpeechWriter.com, to reap the type-in traffic, presumably.
“When Saying It Quickly Matters: Whether you need a Presidential Alert or an all-staff message to go out, say is strategically. This can be voicemail or text (email blasts are rare these days). Similar principles apply.”
Smart move!
Ideally, such domain names that make the news should be built into portals, to capture SEO juice from the search engines. Simply forwarding domains without providing distinct content, deprives them of Google presence.
