.Qatar now available to the public

Dot Qatar is now a reality.

The Qatar Domains Registry (QDR) which is managed by ictQatar, has officially made the Qatar-specific Arabic Internet domain names (.Qatar) available to members of the general public through accredited registrars.

According to the Qatar Domains Registry:

β€œThe introduction of Arabic domain names is a major milestone in making the Internet accessible for all. Businesses and individuals will find great value in using the new Qatar-specific Arabic domain names, allowing them to position themselves as uniquely Qatar and connect with new audiences.” said Saleh Al-Kuwari, Chief Technical Manager at ictQATAR.”

Recently, we wrote about the opening of the .QA namespace and how the .QA domains aren’t transferable for sale.

Once the .qatar registry figures out that there is money to be made in the aftermarket, I predict that they will loosen up the no sale/no transfer restriction.
