Nice! can’t believe green.com is parked. It’d make a fantastic ecology web site.

  2. Mike says:

nice post. how about an honorable mention?

  3. Mike says:

I was going to suggest CornflowerBlue.com

  4. Lucius "Guns" Fabrice says:

    Ahhhhh, cute 😀

Green.com was an amazingly crafted site that recently went dark. IAC launched it as a tween social networking site within an immersive virtual world framework — all focused on Green/Eco. I believe it would’ve succeeded if IAC had targeted ‘everyone’ instead of just the younger crowd – its very hard (not impossible) to monetize that demographic online. I suspect that they’ll relaunch it as a green-focused ecommerce/search play. More proof that a category-killer domain, backed by substantial funding still doesn’t guarantee success. But the domain remains a valuable asset that can be developed over & over again while looking for the right formula.

Forgot to mention, IAC is parking Green.com with Sendori, the parkling solution they acquired through Ask.com

Rhee – many thanks for the insightful information. Green.com is my choice of color from the list – if it were ever possible (by monetary means alone) to acquire.
