Spamhaus aims at maintaining a variety of lists, in an effort to combat spam and malicious content related to domains, IPs and web sites.
A new list that was released by Spamhaus, reveals the world’s top 10 most abused domain registrars.
According to Spamhaus, the methodology used to determine this negative status among domain registrars is as follows:
“This list shows the ratio of domains which Spamhaus systems are profiling as being used for spamming, botnet or malware abuse, versus all domains seen by our systems.
This is not a list of registrars by absolute quantity of bad domains; several other registrars have numerically more spam domains but they also have vastly more non-spam domains in total, resulting in a lower ratio of bad to total domains. This is also not a list that retains a long history; it is a rolling two-week snapshot of our current view of domains as seen and processed by our systems.
These domains are in active use, showing up in mail and spam flows, and related DNS traffic. Other domains may be parked or used for traffic outside of our systems’ focus, and those domains are not included in this summary.”
In other words, the list should be taken with a grain of salt, but here it is regardless:
- Domainers Choice (Nanjing Imperiosus Technology)
- SPEEDPACKET
- URL SOLUTIONS INC.
- PIR Special Projects
- Alpnames
- Hostinger, UAB
- Paknic
- GMO
- Shinjiru
- 101Domain
