Legendary domain investors, Castello Bros, have scored a juicy sale as Fruta.com was sold for $40,000 dollars.
As we reported yesterday, the domain name Fruta.com was sold via the Sedo network.
Fruta.com was registered in 1998, almost certainly by Michael Castello or David Castello, at a time when many premium keywords were still available.
Fruta means “fruit” in Spanish, but also in other languages, such as modern Greek: From frutu, corresponding to Late Latin fructa, from Latin fructus.
Holding a quality domain for 25 years eventually bears fruit. 🙂 Congratulations to the Castello Bros for yet another great sale, on the heels of Bullion.com.
Quite juicy for the buyer. That’s an awful result for the name.

We’ve never had a final offer over 10K. Wanted 50K. Weren’t going to pass on 40K. Neither of us speak Spanish. LOL
MJR – One fruit in the hand beats ten fruit in the market. Or something like that.
David – A job well done. I’ve a hunch it’d become a fintech or crypto brand. There’s only so much money in apricots and grapes.
A 40K sale on a Spanish generic is actually great! Spanish .com names have lost the appeal they had 10-20 years ago as ccTLDs keep strengthening their presence in Spanish speaking countries. There are a few exceptions of course and some that could be brand material for the English speaking/international markets, but anything around the 5 mid figures is a good outcome, so congrats to the Castello Brothers 🙂
