Insane as it might sound, Apple is now valued at more than $1,000,000,000,000 (one trillion US dollars.)
Apple is now the first American corporation to reach this valuation; the milestone was achieved when Apple stock (AAPL) hit $207 dollars a share. AAPL is now trading around $219 a share.
Considering how the domain name Apple.com was registered for free, this is also the biggest ROI in the history of mankind!
Someone (re)registered the domain TrillionDollarCompany.com that same day. It was previously registered and was let expire and drop. The new owners want $100,000 dollars for it. (LOL.)
Apple is not the first publicly traded company in the world to surpass the trillion dollar mark, however.
PetroChina, an oil giant company, topped a trillion dollar valuation in 2007 when its stock began trading in Shanghai, but shares quickly plunged afterward. It is now worth “only” $205 billion dollars.
