Recently, the domain name UNNWO.org has been making the rounds.
UNNWO stands for United Nations New World Order and the website is now the center of a debate about its legitimacy. Is the site really linked to the United Nations, or is it fake?
The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. It is currently made up of 193 Member States. The mission and work of the United Nations are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter.
Heading over to the UNNWO.org, it seems like a legit UN site; however, it’s most likely owned by a PR firm.
While it bears the United Nations logo, the colors do not match and the map is distorted. The United Nations is a bureaucratic organization, much like ICANN, and not everything moves fast, including takedown or cease and desist notices.
Twitter users are claiming UNNWO.org is the new UN site, which it isn’t, as WHOIS tells.
Using a .ORG for a web site is expected to add legitimacy – at least that’s the intention of its Registry, PIR.
Independent researcher, Spiro Skouras, explains his findings in this video:
