URN.com sold by First Place Internet—Now in German hands

Another aged, three letter .com just found a new home: URN.com, registered back in 1996, has been sold by First Place® Internet and is now managed by a German registrant.

There is no live web site yet but the domain transfer hints at new plans that are in the works. The new registrant hasn’t gone public and no price has been disclosed but it’s safe to say a 3-letter dictionary word .com like URN.com doesn’t come cheap.

First Place® Internet has been active recently in the secondary market, having also sold Breed.com and Fungus.com, along with other names via Sedo and private sales.

An urn is a container, typically with a rounded body and a narrow neck, used for storing or holding something. It is most commonly associated with cremation urns. The term comes from Latin urna, meaning “jar” or “vessel.”
