A year ago, we reported on the number of .XYZ domains dipping below 4 million registrations.
During the past year, the once top new gTLD has lost its comfortable first spot among other gTLDs, and has lost half of that number.
It now trails .Top and .Loan with just over 2 million domains.
Penny promotions aside, .XYZ has 1.4 million domains in “parking” mode and very few domain sales worth mentioning in the past 12 months.
Naturally, the XYZ Registry is eager to point out domain names that are being used, so here’s what we found.
Many seem to be forwarders to other gTLD or TLDs, so it’s strange that Google registers them as active .XYZ web sites.
This, however, is a cursory check of the Google results. If you use an .XYZ domain for your real content web site, we’d like to hear from you.
xyz is gonna make mush outta dotcom. just give them another year or two.
doob – At this rate it might take 100x that much time.
