YouTube announced its latest service, YouTube Red, available to purchase on October 28th in the US.
It’s a paid service costing $9.99 per month, and it has no ads.
Subscribers to the YouTube Red service will be able to save videos to view offline.
Now, the YouTube brand is known worldwide, but to some it might strike a very odd note: RedTube [NSFW] is a rather popular provider of adult videos that caters to all tastes and perversions.
The close similarity between YouTube Red and RedTube cannot go unnoticed, and we’re rather surprised that YouTube actually stated that they aren’t concerned. If that’s the case, who are we to judge?
YouTube does not allow explicit, adult content in its videos, and certain types of nudity have to be educational or medicinal.
On that note, YouTube has also secured the gTLD domain YouTube.Red, which is not currently pointed to anything. The domain was registered in April of this year.
Meanwhile, there is also a brand new gTLD that hasn’t launched yet: Dot .Tube, so the fun of the tubes is about to begin! 😀
