The ongoing debate about whether “dot com is dead” is definitely energizing the typically stagnant waters of the domain industry, after falling prey to a crafty “trolling” ad by Minds+Machines.
While domainers waste time speculating the clinical status of the “king of all TLDs”, someone apparently registered DotComIsDead.com – as early as in 2000.
During that time, the dot com bubble was in full bursting mode, following the collapse of the start-up economy.
Apparently, fears of a full Internet dissolution were imminent; meanwhile, pioneers such as Frank Schilling, whose company Uniregistry is investing in the gTLD namespace, were picking up the gems that others dropped at the time.
Strangely, DotComIsDead.com is parked at Domain Name Sales and it’s available for sale. Or, you can register ComIsDead.com for reg fee right now.
