The recent requirement for email authentication of domain registrants, has created numerous problems; GoDaddy was hit by a phishing scheme at the same time.
Apparently, the GoDaddy authentication also interferes with automatic renewals of domain names, as one power user has discovered.
Alvin Brown, an established SEO and Internet Market Services consultant with Kickstart Commerce, noticed that his credit card that would otherwise be charged to finance automatic renewals of expiring domains, wasn’t charged.
After contacting GoDaddy technical support, Brown’s inquiry was initially met with surprise, but soon it was clear that the domains that had not renewed automatically, were still pending verification due to the new requirements.
