Shakira‘s performance at The Big Game half-time show alongside Boricua Jennifer Lopez, was spectacular.
The Colombian singer looked astonishingly young despite celebrating her 43rd birthday yesterday. The crowds loved Shakira’s performance of a medley of songs, where she demonstrated moving her tongue making sounds.
That last part seemed to be novel to many; seeing Shakira’s tongue move fast in a high pitched sound most likely surprised those unfamiliar with this ancient demonstration of joy. Ululation is derived from the Greek word alalagmos (αλαλαγμός) which was the battle cry of Greek soldiers in ancient times.
Soon after Shakira’s ululation, a clip with her demonstration became an Internet meme. Those that knew what Shakira did, jumped in to describe it as a “ululation.”
Which might explain why the matching domain, Ululation.com, shows that the database connection is broken. Could it be that this 2000 domain registration crashed from too many visitors?
And just how much did the domain’s value increase thanks to Shakira’s endorsement? 😀 Incidentally, sticking your tongue out does not count as a ululation.
In case you are interested, the domains ShakiraTongue.com and ShakiraUlulation.com are currently available. Does this mean you should register them?
Of course not – “SHAKIRA” is a registered trademark of Shakira Isabel Mebarak – the full name of Shakira.
