The collectively financed billboard to promote Greek tourism went live today in New York City’s Times Square, between the 46th and 47th Street.
Created by Up Greek Tourism, a non-government initiative that promotes Greece as a tourism destination of choice, the billboard was funded by “crowdsourcing” its cost among 333 individuals.
The animated billboard campaign was created by Greek designer, Charis Tsevis, famous for his electronic mosaics of Apple founder, Steve Jobs.
Each panel of the electronic billboard is created from photos of the campaign contributors, relative in size to their financial contribution to the project.
The promotion will remain active in New York’s Time Square for 30 days from today.
