Verisign – the dot com registry – is safe, despite several hundred thousand homes and businesses being left without power in Virginia, due to storms.
“Here at Verisign we have multiple back up systems to keep our domain services up and running non stop,” said Matt Black of Verisign.
“We have diesel power generators, solar power generators, wind generators and when everything else fails, the entire crew of Verisign pitches in and runs the company’s bicycle power generator”, added Black while pedaling his “V mark II” bike alongside other Verisign employees.
The extreme power loss was felt into Washington DC as well, where sweltering temperatures made the life of government employees unbearable; they now plan to pass a law making such high temperatures in the summer a criminal offense.
