While really long domains can exist on the Internet, most of us would never actually type them in; the best use for a really long domain is via clickable, promotional teasers.
Coca-Cola did just that, as we mentioned last month.
What if the really long domain name is a popular phrase?
The wedding tradition in the US and most of Europe, calls for the bride to wear “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue“.
Apparently, someone thought that the .com would be perfect to use for a wedding dress store, and they are currently using SomethingOldSomethingNewSomethingBorrowedSomethingBlue.com to pitch its sales. The domain was re-registered this year, although it existed in 2007, according to DomainTools.
Twitter most likely would truncate this really long domain name down to a short T.co URL, but the domain is definitely memorable – just not type-able! 😀
i happily own varietyisthespiceoflife/com ….a few years now
