Scientific breakthrough: ‘3D solidified’ domains will change the Internet landscape

Ante portas: Three dimensional solidification of domains.

Ante portas: Three dimensional solidification of domains.

While everyone is focusing on gTLDs these days, scientific inventions and breakthrough research in quantum physics is creating a silent revolution.

The proliferation of equipment able to display and project objects in the XYZ space – all three dimensions – led to the next logical step: 3D solidification.

Stanford University researches are now able to create 3D objects out of virtually thin air.

The new technology, aptly dubbed “3D holographic solidification” is getting many in the domain namespace excited.

“Soon, we’ll be able to print domain names, out of nothing, no registries or registrars would be necessary,” said Toni Stark of 3D Holofindings, a nanotechnology firm in San Diego, California.

“Many investors are already projecting a switch to printable, 3D domain names within 18 months, we are definitely experiencing huge progress in the field,” added Miss Stark.

The domain solidification process incorporates the dream of many domain investors: home generation of meaningful domain assets, bypassing third party managers.

The first home kits are expected to be released in the summer of 2014; several domain industrialists are calling foul about the timing, set to coincide with the ICANN mass release of gTLDs.

The generated, 3D solidified domains will fully resolve on the Internet, without the need for cloud apps or even web browsers.

Definitely a promising new domain technology to keep an eye on!
