Today’s big news from the automotive industry is not the – once more – public apology of Toyota’s CEO and president, Akio Toyoda, but rather the announcement by General Motors that the Hummer sale to the Chinese has officially fallen through.
No more Hummer brand, folks.
This is this end of the line for the much loved and much hated gasoline guzzler range of automobiles, including the original Hummer, the H2 and the supposedly eco-friendly H3.
The Hummer might have been hated by many, but it seems to be a popular string in domain registrations. With over 1,895 domains that begin with “hummer” – according to ZFBot – the number of trademark violators are certain to be many.
After SAAB and Saturn, that’s the 3rd GM brand that bites the proverbial dust.
With the upcoming loss of brand support from the official GM channel, lots of people will turn to the Internet to search and locate sources of information, parts etc. That’s a heaven for owners of “hummer” domains that will see their traffic increase.
At least, General Motors will still retain its cool 2-letter .com, GM.com 🙂
Great!!!! I own hummer.net. Any offers????
Victor…
Victor what?
