If you didn’t finish your Holiday shopping last Friday, you are not alone.
Millions of consumers, all bruised up from the constant elbowing by fellow shoppers on Black Friday, look forward to Cyber Monday to do some further damage.
According to Wikipedia, the term “Cyber Monday” was created by marketing companies eager to persuade people to shop online. The term made its debut on November 28, 2005, in a Shop.org press release titled ‘Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year.’
Quite interestingly, the domain name CyberMonday.com was first registered on November 19, 2005 by the owners of Shop.org, which clearly indicates it was a well-calculated move. 😉
Although the domain dropped later, it was re-registered in 2010 and has since been offering featured deals, from dozens of large retailers.
If you’re online right now, check out CyberMonday.com and happy shopping, sans the fights!
