Several new trademark applications for domain related services were filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office during the past three weeks.
First, the application for ‘Raj Domains’ was filed on November 26th, for the following classes:
“IC 035. US 100 101 102. G & S: Brand development in the field of Domain names; Advertising services, namely, promoting Domain names for sale by owner via the Internet; Providing information in the field of Domains via the Internet.”
The applicant is Rajat Kapoor, a successful Indian domain investor operating from RajDomains.com.
Second, the application for ‘DomainShield‘ was filed on November 30th, for the following class:
“IC 045. US 100 101. G & S: Compilation, creation and maintenance of a register of domain names, Registration of domain names, Protection of intellectual property, Establishment of intellectual property rights, Intellectual property watching services, Research relating to intellectual property, Searching of trade marks”.
The applicant is Domain Shield Pty Ltd proprietary limited company of Australia.
The company currently operates from DomainShield.com.au, and it appears that premium domain brokers, B52.com own DomainShield.com, which they are offering for sale via Domain Name Sales. Hopefully, this will lead to a domain sale and not some other unpleasant direction involving a UDRP.
Lastly, the application for ‘Domainwatch‘ was made on December 2nd, by Rook Consulting, Inc – a security firm operating from RookSecurity.com; not to be confused with Rook Media .Net.
The trademark was filed on the ‘intent to use’ clause (1B) for the following class:
“IC 042. US 100 101. G & S: IT consulting services”.
It is not clear which specialized domain they intend to offer these services from.
Looks like a busy year ahead for many domain entrepreneurs! 😀
Escrow.com logo & Domain Shield logo look oddly the same. Not a fan of that. And any domain-related company based in Melbourne Australia, I just assume Flippa probably has their hands on it somehow lol.
