Domainer ‘sherpa’ Ian Clark plants dot .XYZ flag atop Mt. Kilimanjaro!

Canadian domain investor Ian Clark might have two metal knees, but his psyche is made out of steel as well.

If climbing a flight of stairs is a task to some, Ian ascended Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

And he has the photos to prove it.

The .XYZ Registry was sponsoring his climb, which was made to raise and donate funds to the Water School.

Ian’s great feat was accomplished as follows, per his diary that he shares with us:

I summited Mt Kilimanjaro on mar 1st at 7:00AM

– hiked for 3 days accumulating to the altitude and setting up the approach
– day 4 involved an 8hr hike to get even closer
– after our 8hr hike we had dinner and napped till 12:00 midnight
–  started hiking at midnight in total darkness with our night lights and made it to the summit in 7hrs
–  started our 4hr decent back to basecamp5
–  napped for 3 hrs then had lunch
–  descended for 4hrs to basecamp6
–  final decent 4hrs to the gate
Congratulations Ian! 😀
