Even seasoned domainers are not sure which domain registrars to use, when their long-term registrar no longer performs to their expectations.
Moniker’s decline as a domain registrar of choice for domain investors accelerated after a series of security glitches led to a mass hacking of domains last year.
In a discussion thread at DNForum, user Keyboard Cowboy shared his quandary over which registrar should he use for his domain portfolio:
“With Moniker having turned to shit, where have people moved to? I’ve heard good things about gandi.net, but wanted to get some input here. Basically after low’ish prices, top security and the level of support Moniker was once known for.”
The discussion attracted suggestions such as eNom, GoDaddy, Name, DomainMonster, NameSilo, Dynadot, Uniregistry, Fabulous, Domain.com and NameBright.
In the end, most suggestions seem to recommend Uniregistry, due to its management system and free Privacy WHOIS.

I like Godaddy, Name.com and Namecheap. Uniregistry has high prices.
Best,
RU
RU – You can get a discount account priced for domainers, contact them.
Uniregistry prices are still very high even with their domainer discount compared to NameSilo. I love me some NameSilo. Free privacy and no one else’s prices come close.
Cyborg – Total BS.
Uniregistry: $8.67 .com domains for domainer discount, no minimums. Renewals, same price. ICANN fee included.
NameSilo: $8.69 .com domains for 500+ domains.
DomainGang their pricing is Total BS.
Another reason I don’t like registrars that hide bulk pricing instead of just treat everyone equally based on the number of domains. Uniregistry quoted me $8.91. Namesilo is $8.49 for 2500+. That is over $1050 extra a year for 2500 domains. So, maybe you get special treatment from Uniregistry, but not everyone else does. Even when they have a good amount of domains
Cyborg – Maybe you didn’t ask nicely. Contact Sevan Derderian, no minimums. Many other domainers get the same $8.67 final price, perhaps even lower for large portfolios. And you don’t have to prefund. The bottom line: use whichever registrar works best for you. Cost is not the only reason to go to registrar A vs. B.
I asked very nicely. They might give me the price you got now if I showed them this post. However , I am very happy with Namesilo and saving small amounts per domain adds up. Also, I really respect transparency of pricing. There is no need to quote me a price and you another price.
Cyborg – If you aren’t prepared to ask for lower pricing at Uniregistry and are already happy with Namesilo that settles it then. Those that take some time to engage with the Uniregistry principals and to explain that they need lower pricing usually get it. Personally, I would not use Namesilo as I have no idea who they are and where they are operating from.
I asked for lower pricing, and didn’t get it as low as you, so yes not going to ask again. learned who Namesilo was from a DomainSherpa interview with the owner. http://www.domainsherpa.com/michael-goldfarb-namesilo-interview/
While Uniregistry is not the low price leader in the industry. We are the most robust platform on the web when it comes to domain name registrars. We also offer more features then the legacy registrars at low or no cost. When it comes to bulk operations Uniregistry is hands down the best platform to manage names on. I can say this from experience as I have had domains at the registrars mentioned above. The Uniregistry UI is intuitive and makes domain management simple. In addition to this there are many new features rolling out in the next 30, 60, and 90 day time frames that will set us farther apart from the rest of the registrar pack. These changes will help domainers increase their bottom line. A .10 cents difference in the price of a .com is nominal when you think of the advantage you have by securing your names with Uniregistry.
Uniregistry is price competitive but again not the low price leader. If you want a solid, reliable, safe platform, Uniregistry is the best choice. Put a few names on the system and tell me if you disagree.
It’s a 0.42 cent difference from the price you quoted me and a 0.18 cent difference for the price you gave domaingang for 2500+ domains. I’m sure you have more feature than namesilo. But you say “If you want a solid, reliable, safe platform, Uniregistry is the best choice” How are you more solid and reliable than namesilo or any other registrar? Feature have nothing to do with reliability. I’m sure you are a great registrar, I just starting commenting because the first 2 comments were about price, and I like the first person posting thought your prices were high. The price you give domaingang is pretty good. I was unaware that you had prices that good when I first started commenting. However I was unaware, since you hide the bulk pricing and give difference prices to people for reasons unknown.
Cyborg – Other domain investors receive the same discount that I get, in fact I could not get any further discounts so I am far from being “special.”
As your claims are unverifiable by me – your domain was only registered 2 days ago – I suggest you take the rest of your exchange to Uniregistry directly. This isn’t a forum to resolve personal issues.
I have no personal issues with Uniregistry. I was just stating the prices I was quoted. You seem to take things very personal when someone disagrees with you. My first post all I said was my opinion on NameSilo. You immediate said what I said was “Total BS”. All I did was say my opinion and facts of what I was quoted. Not sure why you get all worked up about it.
Cyborg – And I responded based on the pricing that I and others are getting, thus proving your claims of lower prices at NameSilo as inaccurate.
And once again, since this has turned into a single person’s Uniregistry bashing marathon, I suggest that you either work things out with them to get better pricing, or be merry at NameSilo. Good luck!
So, in your brain when did I bash Uniregistry? I said great Uniregistry was a great registrar. My only objection was difference quotes in pricing. How is that bashing?
Cyborg – My brain is trained to catch trolls, and you’ve just reached your quota for the day. Good luck at NameSilo or wherever.
