We’ve been providing a weekly report on the status and growth trend of dot .XYZ domains, a year after Network Solutions ran a massive robo-registration campaign.
Last week we witnessed an increase in the number of registered domains that exist in the zone files. Such numbers are provided by statistic-gathering web sites like ntldstats.
This week, however, dot .XYZ domains dropped by a large percentage: 19,887 fewer domains than last week, for a total of 776,609.
That’s a loss of 2.5%.
In terms of total registrations, dot .XYZ continues to occupy the top spot among all gTLDs, with 1,062,378 domains, or 16.14% of all new gTLDs.
By the end of the summer we’ll most likely know the exact trend – upwards or downwards – that dot .XYZ will be taking for the rest of the year.
