NamesCon warns domainers about Tropicana Hotel booking scam!

NamesCon has changed the way domain conferences are organized and presented, since 2014.

The biggest domain conference in terms of attendance and vendor participation hosts its annual show in Las Vegas, and the next big event is between January 10-13, 2016.

With the ongoing success of NamesCon, it comes as no surprise that there is an ongoing scam going on, which targets domainers and their hotel booking.

Richard Lau, founder of NamesCon explained that the way the scam works, is by cold-callers that misrepresent themselves as agents for the Tropicana Hotel, where NamesCon takes place.

Other popular industry conferences in Las Vegas have been targeted as well, including Affiliate Summit, which has filed a lawsuit against the perpetrators. There is also a list of companies that engage in this type of activity casually.

According to Richard Lau, all bookings for NamesCon should be processed through the NamesCon online booking page to ensure attendants are part of the NamesCon room block and can safely access our special room pricing.

However, if  you attend NamesCon and you wish to contact the Tropicana directly, simply refer to NamesCon while booking to ensure access to the reserved block of rooms.

Tropicana will never contact domainers to request that they book, nor do they hire third-party companies to do so.
