If you received a UDRP notice in the mail, do not ignore it. You might be throwing away some serious money.
The Uniform Domain-Name Dispute Resolution Policy that UDRP stands for, is not exactly fan mail and it’s not exactly a bill. It’s a challenge to the ownership rights of your domain and thus, you should always take it seriously.
Well-known for its innovation and support of new money-generating venues, ICANN is about to launch a new method of UDRP monetization.
Codenamed UDRPwiz, the new platform will allow anyone with a domain the opportunity to bid on the outcome of ongoing UDRP cases, by placing money on the Complainant or the Respondent.
“We wanted to add some thrill and excitement to the domain industry, that is hit by bad economy and ever-increasing costs for domain registrations”, said Martha Strukj executive assistant for the ICANN Club Med committee. “Now, people can make money from UDRP cases and stimulate the economy and at the same time support ICANN’s ailing fund resources.”
Having recently updated its logo, ICANN is dynamically entering an era that offers both challenges and opportunities; the upcoming ICANN meeting in Carthagena, Colombia will allow the ICANN members to relax, sipping martinis by the beach, while briefly discussing world matters.
The UDRPwiz platform will utilize core technologies first used by the Bido auction system, including purchasing credits, exchanging credits for coupons and selling coupons for more credits.

No idea if it’s legal for third parties to wager on the outcome of legal disputes, but even if it is, the success rate says that it’s not good odds to bet on the Respondent. Still, this was amusing.
