The Uniregistry exhibit at NamesCon 2017 was hacked earlier tonight, and thousands of visitors strolling down the main hallway of the Tropicana hotel, witnessed a rare phenomenon: an .IO domain in the wild.
Hours after Uniregistry set up the promotional exhibit showcasing dot .audio, the intervention of pranksters most likely affiliated with the .IO Registry resulted in the exhibit’s scrambling, as seen below:
“It’s another example of creative minimalism, and a stimulating artistic interaction between similar-minded technocrats, such as Uniregistry and .IO Registry,” said Frank Schilling.
“Personally, I love it, although for practical reasons we will have to bolt the letters down from now on,” added Schilling, smiling.
The exhibit resonated memories of last year’s event hack.
