#Domain video : How #Tuvalu makes 10% of its national earnings by “pure chance”

Tuvalu is a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and among the the poorest nations in the world.

Formerly known as the Ellice Islands, Tuvalu is a Polynesian island nation about midway between Hawaii and Australia, lying east-northeast of the Santa Cruz Islands; it gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1978.

Despite its global rankings in the world’s economy, Tuvalu is unique: it makes 10% of its annual national earnings, by leasing out the rights to dot .TV domains.

That coincidental fact has been documented in a 5 minute video, titled: “How This Island Got 10% of Their Money by Chance.
