#California .com : #geoDomain sold for mid seven figures, along with other nine #domains

The premium geo-domain California.com, has been sold.

According to a press release, the amount involved was mid seven figures USD. The sale includes a total of 10 domain names, most of which were not disclosed.

One Planet Ops, Inc. announced today that it has acquired the domain name California.com, and intends to build a new website at that address reflecting the best the Golden State has to offer.

Says the press release:

“Major domain names like this one don’t often change hands these days,” said Zamani, “so we’re incredibly excited about the enormous potential of California.com—and when it launches we expect it to alter the landscape of our state’s global web presence.”

The deal also included three domain names that would typically be used for content that the One Planet team would not find appropriate, these domains are: CaliforniaSex.com; CaliforniaGirls.com; and Californication.com.

Rather than offering those three domain names for resale, One Planet, a company that takes its social impact mission seriously, intends to re-purpose them as sites that promote the equality of men and women, advance the education of girls, stop human trafficking, and advocate for the oneness of humanity.

The web site at California.com seems to have been created on August 9, 2018. The domain’s WHOIS was last updated on July 20th, 2018.

Kudos to George Kirikos for the notification. Link to the press release for the sale of California.com.

Wow, that’s a pretty great name and a good win for the seller/buyer and the general public as it looks like it will be more than just a crappy directory from domainers stuck in the 90’s.
