ICANN posted a new editorial claiming that industry articles that have been written about .COM price increases “perpetuate misunderstandings.”
Signed by Göran Marby, ICANN President & CEO, the article says that ICANN is not a domain pricing regulator.
But ICANN gave the green light to .COM Registry, Verisign, to uncap its pricing increase limits, so how can ICANN claim they are not involved in this?
So far, more than 8,000 public comments have been submitted to ICANN, urging it to oppose to this open pricing contract for .COM domain names.

Details of the proposed amendment were announced at that time. In the weeks since the announcement was made, several articles have been written that perpetuate misunderstandings of ICANN’s role in setting .COM wholesale pricing, as well as key elements of the new proposed framework for working together on initiatives related to the security, stability, and resiliency of the Domain Name System (DNS) in the form of a binding Letter of Intent (LOI) between the two organizations.
