Changes are coming in the good ole European Union, and by that we mean the continent states that exclude the United Kingdom.
The NIS2 Directive is the first EU-wide law on Cybersecurity, defining the protection of critical infrastructure in all EU member states. The directive includes internet exchanges, national CSIRTs, cloud computing services and Domain Name Services (DNS).
That last part is interesting, as it requires the registration of DNS services with ENISA, the EU agency for Cybersecurity.
This not only applies to TLD operators, but also to anyone who operates their own DNS services at work, or even at home!
More information can be found here, along with a document on the impact these changes will bring to DNS management in the European Union country members.
