Security #domains: The US government has launched StopRansomware.gov

The Joe Biden administration has launched StopRansomware.gov to provide resources for countering ransomware attacks.

The domain was registered on July 1st, along with a specialized task force that will take aim at perpetrators of ransomware.

Ransomware attacks cost millions of dollars to businesses and individuals every year. Malicious actors continue to adapt their ransomware tactics over time. Federal agencies remain vigilant in maintaining awareness of ransomware attacks and associated tactics, techniques, and procedures across the country and around the world.

It’s interesting to note that the matching .com domain, StopRansomware.com, has been registered since 2012 and it currently resolves to an email portal. It’s almost certain quite a bit of traffic will end up there. 🙂

Domains that end in .GOV are operated by Verisign and cost $400 dollars per year.
