Mana.org: Domain did not sell for $167k after all

The organization Midwives Alliance of North America has renewed its expired domain name, Mana.org.

Which means that the much-publicized auction that closed at $167,000 dollars is not a completed sale, as no-one stepped up to the plate to pay GoDaddy. Reports of such a sale are expected to issue corrections.

Mana.org has been renewed

The domain name Mana.org now points back to the original content as before, after the domain was renewed over the weekend.

It’s not the first time that such auction reversals take place at GoDaddy Auctions. The marketplace has been targeted by scammers that game the auctions by coordinating bids well above the reach of legitimate bidders, then fail to pay and the domain is given to the conspirator for considerably less.

We aren’t sure if in this case the domain Mana.org was bid up by the usual suspects. What is certain is that the Midwives Alliance of North America is now going to keep a close eye on its domain’s renewals.
