It took the better part of four decades and the sequel to Beetlejuice is now official.
Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are starring once again, among a stellar cast of actors; the movie will be called “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” leaving room for a third movie—just don’t say the word three times in a row!
To be released on September 6, 2024, the movie won’t be called Beetlejuice 2 after all which creates an interesting situation, as far as domain registrations go.
For starters, the domain Beetlejuice.com is parked with PPC ads and for sale via Afternic, all while Beetlejuice2.com points to a broken lander at Warner Bros.
Meanwhile, the exact .com, BeetlejuiceBeetlejuice.com is parked at a standard GoDaddy lander with PPC ads. Registered in 2015, the domain appears to be ripe for acquisition.
Regarding potential legal issues, Warner Bros owns 5 registered marks for BEETLEJUICE and none so far for the double keyword, all while an Australian wine company has filed a trademark registration application for wines; that application is pending.
Would the domain name BeetlejuiceBeetlejuice.com sell to Warner Bros on time for the epic release of the much-anticipated sequel? We sure hope so.
