Our introduction of domain Name Jargon yesterday, stated that most information about domains on various mainstream media is inaccurate or incomplete.
That was quite a brazen statement, so we’d like to correct that error.
In fact, all information about domains on various mainstream media is inaccurate or incomplete!
This open series will attempt to fill in this obvious void; pretty soon, you will be an expert in every domain term known to man.
Just follow our domain Name Jargon closely – we are on our way to (re)define domaining. 😀
Flip (a domain name): The act of attempting to turn a hand registered domain, costing between $8 to $10, into the cost of a lunch and a haircut, or – in rare cases – that of a dinner and a movie.
Most domainers engaging in domain flipping succeed in surpassing the $100 milestone within six months of intensive domain sales on eBay. Others prefer to auction domains with no reserve, starting at $1.
Domain flippers often celebrate their success by spending most of their domain earnings on beer, and more domains.
Example: “Dude, I just flipped CarouselSelfies.com to a chick who wants to make duck faces while riding a carousel horse! I doubled my reg fee investment and got her number too!”
