The 50 Cent party raged into the small hours on Friday, after a successful launch of the dot .CLUB gTLD during the week.
Overtones of NBA accusations over Donald Sterling‘s racist statements on tape, were still fresh.
“Donald Sterling was not invited to the 50 Cent party, we wanted to ensure that domainers were safe throughout the event” said the event organizers, adding:
“It is a known fact that Mr. Sterling’s bigotry extends to domains; he does not let his girlfriend associate with anything other than dot .coms!”
Meanwhile, video from the 50 Cent .CLUB party counted at least 120 instances of the N-word being uttered as part of singing. Other popular phrases were “homie“, “wurd” and “domainers in da house, yo.”
Another interesting part of the night was the addition by ICANN of a 10 cent fee, hiking the cost of dot .CLUB domains to 60 cent temporarily, as you can see in this photo. The extra cash collected will be donated to charity.
