Citing current conditions in the social media market, Facebook has announced it is rebranding to “OpenSea.”
News of the availability of the domain OpenSea.com in the open market clearly drove this move, according to media experts.
Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of what will formerly be known as “Facebook” noted on the bold domain rebranding move:
“We have been searching high and low for a new brand with potential for our younger crowd, away from politics and suburban drama, and OpenSea clearly made the cut.
The acquisition of the domain OpenSea.com from Sedo is imminent, as soon as I get my ETH converted into US dollars I will be placing a generous bid at the BIN.”
Facebook switching to OpenSea with the matching domain, OpenSea.com, is a bold move that many might criticize or even hate. But it’s better than other speculations such as Metaverse.com.
Mark Zuckerberg shared a preview of the new Facebook OpenSea logo, with the familiar blue gradient superimposed by a circle, thus forming an ever-watching eye.
“Like millions of others I watched the Squid Game and I’m in love with these masked guys, we used the circle one as it’s the most perfect shape in the metaverse, for sure!” exclaimed Mark Zuckerberg, smiling.
