Apple went through the usual announcement presentation earlier today, for its third generation iPad.
“It is simply amazing,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said at a San Francisco unveiling.
“We’ve taken it to a whole new level, and we are redefining the category that Apple created with the original iPad.”
Quadrupling the previous iPad resolution, the new 9.7-inch display screen will feature a “retina display” of 2048 by 1536 pixels, compared with the current model’s 1024 by 768 pixels.
The name for the new iPad is surprisingly *not* iPad 3 or iPad HD, as rumors had it. To honor the late Apple founder, Steve Jobs, Apple is naming it the “Steve Jobs” iPad.
The price of the new “Steve Jobs” iPad will be in the usual $500 – $600 range, which includes a free latte for those Apple fans that will spend their night camping in line outside the Apple stores, later in March.
