The game of unloading Chinese premium “Chip” domains has just gotten tougher.
The Chinese law firm of Cao, Ni & Ma has just taken the case, pro-bono, against reverse chip emailer, Jesus “Chipotle” Solo.
As relayed by Justia.com:
On March 2, 2016 Mr. Jesus Solo, a United States citizen decided to send 850 emails to Chinese owners of LLLL .com chips, offering the owners $100 per domain.
On March 5, 2016, realizing that Mr. Solo was a compulsive serial emailer (aka spammer), and offering much less than the domains were worth, the recipients filed a class action lawsuit in Beijing, China.
According to the lawsuit, the class members are demanding higher offers, consistent with the domain genre’s hype, and a dollar amount that contains an “8”.
On March 12, Mr. Solo received an International Court Subpoena demanding that he shows up for his April 1 court date in Beijing, China.
The case is pending the April 1st date, and we will update this post with new developments as it happens.
Do you own LLLL .com “Chips” – if so, what are you planning to do with them?
